PNU singers bag awards in Spanish music fest

The Philippine Normal University Chorale has won two awards in a recently-held international competition in Spain.

The PNU singers received the first prize in the folkloric category and landed third place in the mixed choir event during the 26th Festival Internacional de Musica de Cantonigros held in Catalonia, Spain from July 17 to 20, 2008.

In the folkloric category, the PNU Chorale scored 94.5, besting more than 20 groups from 30 countries around the world.

The second place went to the Coro de Camara Vocal Leo of Cuba; third place to Paramabira, Binus University Student Choir of Jakarta, Indonesia and Aurin Female choir of Hungary. Pro Musica Children’s Choir of Slovakia got the fourth place.

In the mixed choir category, it was a tie between the PNU Chorale and the Esterhazy Chamber Choir of Hungary for third place. Both groups received 125 points.

The competition consisted of five categories, including mixed groups of up to 40 voices; children’s choir of up to 40 voices; female choir up to 36 voices; mixed, male, female or children’s choir up to 40 voices; and dance groups up to 35 members, including the musicians.

I miss PNU. i was one a product of PNU and used to be in a choir in Agusan Campus.But now i am here in Texas teaching in Elementary level.I am very proud of our faculty and staff… Thank you for the knowledge and magnificent unbeatable learning you taught me.I salute you faculty and staff.I love PNUANS………………………..
